The Port of Cape Town is the port of the city of Cape Town, South Africa. It is situated in Table Bay. Because of its position along one of the world's busiest trade routes, it is one of the busiest ports in South Africa, handling the largest amount of fresh fruit and second only to Durban as a container port. Cape Town, as the ‘Tavern of the Seas’ caters for general cargo on a common user basis, is handling an increasing number of containers and has become an important repair facility, especially for the west coast oil and diamond mining industries. There are 34 berths in total including layby berths. The port boasts extensive ship repair facilities. The main dry dock, known as Sturrock Dry Dock has an overall docking capability of 369.6m length and is 45.1m width at the entrance top with a depth of 14m. The dock may be divided into two sections of varying lengths although the dividing inner caisson was in March 2017 requiring repair and therefore unavailable. The Robinson Dry Dock in the Victoria Basin measures 161.2m in length with an entrance top of 20.7m and a depth of 7.9m. The port also has a synchro lift capable of handling ships up to 61m in length, 15m beam and 1,806 tonnes, and a repair quay in the Duncan Dock. Berth A near the harbour entrance is given over to ship repair by private enterprise. The adjacent Victoria and Alfred Basins have a variety of berths available for ship and boat repair as well as berthing of smaller vessels, including research vessels and visiting naval ships. Cape Town has two main terminals, or business units for cargo handling purposes. The Container Terminal contains six deep-sea berths. They are served by a fleet of post-panamax gantry cranes for the larger container ships now in service. The Multi-Purpose Terminal in Duncan Dock handles fruit, steel, paper, maize, wheat, rice, timber, coal, scrap and other general cargo, as well as passenger cruise ships. The grain elevator has storage for 28,000 cubic metres. Duncan Dock also has a dedicated cold store for fish products with docking space for up to six vessels and the ability to discharge three simultaneously. The port has good rail and road connections inland to other centres. Cape Town has several bunkering points within the port supplying marine fuel oil, gas oil and blends and the port is serviced by a bunker barge. A full range of ship handling and stevedoring is available. The port, which is close to the central business district, houses a yacht club, marina, and an NSRI sea rescue base. The FALSE BAY YACHT CLUB moorings and slipping facilities are controlled and managed by the SIMON’S TOWN MARINA COMPANY. (STMC – a non-profit company) The members of this company consist only of FBYC members who are mooring rights owners. STMC is presided over by a Board of Directors (min 3 – max 6) who meet every month or two. The staff consists of a Manager, Administrator, Bookkeeper, Supervisor and three Assistants. The office is situated on Rumble Jetty alongside the main slipway. Office and slipway hours are weekdays only, 8:30 to 17:00. Visitors to STMC and FBYC are welcome, but must take out temporary membership of the FBYC in order to avail themselves of these facilities. HERMANUS NEW HARBOUR is located in South Africa, South Africa in South Africa at coordinates S 34° 26' 02.39" - E 019° 13' 33.59". It is also known as ZWELIHLE. Westcliff Rd, Hermanus, 7200, South Africa Hermanus New Harbour lies west of town, alongside the township Zwelihle and close to the western end of Westcliff Road. The well-known Old Harbour, by comparison, lies close to Gearing's Point - the town's main promenade, now strewn with outdoor art pieces that range from the bold to the unusual, and with ample railing room to scour the bay for whales. A tourist point with hotels, Restaurants and facilities available.

Nice small yacht club with room for international boats. Good showers in club house across the street, with a bar and weekly brais and theme parties. Good security. Peaceful location. Convenient to walk to Spars, Woolworths,, Checkers and Pick&Pay. Seals everywhere, as well as clawless otters starting in about late March, and even an occasional penguin. Strong SE winds up til about March can stress docklines. Heaven after March as wind comes more from the North and NW. Docks in good condition, well maintained. Better rates than in Cape Town.

Imperial Yacht Club is a family club orientated around youth sailing and development. Our club sailing days are Sundays with fun and interesting club regattas. The kids mostly set up the course and decide on the format, with adults supporting and taking responsibility for rescue and safety.

KYC History Knysna Yacht Club is situated in the centre of the beautiful Garden Route - midway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. The club is internationally renowned for its hospitality and facilities. Visiting yachts are always welcome. The name Knysna is a Khoi word that has been translated to mean "place of wood", "fern leaves" and "straight down" an obvious reference to the famous Knysna Heads. The Heads must be one of the most eye-catching geological features along the southern African coastline. They flank a deep channel through which the sea pours, flooding the wide lagoon at the mouth of the Knysna River. The first bay reached inside the Heads was named Featherbed by the old sailing masters as a reference to its calmness compared to the Southern Indian Ocean just outside. Sailors passing through the Heads have a safe navigable lagoon in which to moor their yachts while visiting Knysna and the surrounding region. The lagoon is a playground for holiday makers where one can enjoy water sports, sailing, sunset cruises and lagoon fishing. Founded in 1910, Knysna Yacht Club has all the facilities a visiting yacht requires. This is probably the only harbour on the South African coast that is in easy walking distance of Supermarkets and boat chandlers. The club provide haul-out facilities for vessels of up to 12 tonnes with skilled servicing by SAS/SAMSA qualified personnel. We provide shower and ablution facilities for visitors. The club has an excellent restaurant and two well stocked bars.

Lambert's Bay is a small fishing town in the Western Cape province of South Africa situated 280 kilometres north of Cape Town. It is part of the Cederberg Municipality. The coast town has been proclaimed 'the Diamond of the West Coast' because of its white beaches, wildlife and lobsters Although primarily a fishing town it has become a significant tourist attraction on the West Coast due to its moderate all-year climate.

The picturesque Peter Gordon small boat harbour is home to the Leisure Isle Boat Club (LIBC) and is located in uniquely beautiful surroundings on Leisure Isle, Knysna in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. LIBC was founded in about 1990 to provide facilities to enable Club Members to moor and store their small boats and trailers in a safe and secure environment and for the use and general enjoyment by visitors and the public. The original harbour was built in 1992 and extended in 2004. LIBC and its facilities are for recreational use only and no commercial ventures are allowed except under exceptional circumstances and with specific written approval. LIBC can only accommodate small boats, less than 6,1 meters in length, a beam of less than 2,4 meters and a draught not exceeding 0,6 meters. A limited number of boats up to 6,7 meters in length may be accommodated with special permission. There are approximately 250 privately owned individual walk-on moorings in the harbour and a similar number of trailer parking bays on the hard, all of which are for use by LIBC Members and Temporary Members only. There is also limited storage capacity for paddle crafts (canoes and kayaks). Subject to availability, moorings are usually available to rent on a short or long-term basis, bearing in mind that there is always a high demand for rental berths during the December holiday period. Visitors are welcome and may launch their boats at the public slipway for a daily launch fee; alternatively, visitors may join as Temporary Members on a weekly or monthly basis. When approaching the harbour stay to port as there is a sandbank in the harbour opening on starboard. The Club is situated at the Old Harbour in Gordon’s Bay. There is a walk-on marina with mooring space for 119 vessels, up to a maximum length of 42 ft (12.8m). The opening of the harbour mouth features a sandbar, which can be avoided by use of a channel. Vessels with a draft of 1.8m or more are generally advised to avoid entrance three hours either side of low tide. The Club boasts a fully equipped Clubhouse with a bar and restaurant (known as the Galley) and is home to the most spectacular sunsets on False Bay. At the same time, we welcome visiting yachts from South Africa and Abroad. GBYC is affiliated to both South African Sailing (SAS) and the Ocean Sailing Association of Southern Africa (OSASA). It also has reciprocity agreements with several South African and international yacht clubs.

The Port of Mossel Bay, situated halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, approximately 400km East of Cape Town, is the only South African port that operates two off-shore mooring points within port limits. The main commodities handled are petroleum products exported through the off-shore moorings and fish products from the fishing industry of the region. It also serves as an offshore supply vessel base for one of its key clients, PetroSA. The port is capable of accommodating passenger and project vessels that call at the port. Accessible by road and railway networks, the Port of Mossel Bay is an excellent connection point to the consumer markets and industrial zones of the Western Cape hinterland. Tourism is also a booming industry, with fully booked accommodations in the holiday months. The N2 national road connects Mossel Bay with Cape Town and George. The closest airport is George (approximately 50 km away) which has flights to all major airports within South Africa. Mossel Bay forms part of the Garden Route – a major tourist attraction in the Western Cape. Further inland is the Karoo which is mainly a farming area. The port’s main role is to import and export petroleum products. It also serves as a base for the local fishing industry.

LEISURE CRAFT There are Small Craft Harbour at Saldanha and Mykonos Yacht Harbour and Yachtports SA. PILOTAGE Pilotage is compulsory for all vessels arriving at the port. Boarding is via pilot launch (equipped with radar and VHF radio) or, in certain adverse conditions by helicopter. Please note that these are South African Naval waters and therefore requirements laid out by the SA Navy must be adhered to. All vessels using the marina and swing mooring areas must have insurance cover. APPROACH: On entering False Bay, make for an approach waypoint of 34°10.080’S – 18°27.720’E and then to a final approach waypoint of 34°11.250’S – 18°26.000’E. This will position you just off the Bullnose outside the marina. From there you can proceed to anchor, swing or marina moorings On arrival in Simon’s Bay, call the SA Navy on call sign ‘Bullnose’ on VHF ch 17 to inform them of your intentions. You can also try the yacht club ‘Dolphyn’ on ch 71. On arrival, please report to the club and marina offices to complete the arrival booking in forms. Please bring vessel registration papers, insurance documents and passports to the office. ANCHORING: An area has been set aside with permission from the SA Navy for visiting yachts to anchor in Simon’s Bay.
