Sunny
February 27, 2025
Sunny describes marine forecast conditions where direct sunshine dominates and cloud is minimal, giving bright daylight over the water. In boating forecasts it usually implies good horizontal visibility, little or no precipitation, and skies ranging from clear to only lightly clouded, although wind, swell and tide may still create challenging conditions.
For skippers, sunny weather can improve pilotage, lookout, buoy spotting and crew comfort, but it also increases glare off the sea, dehydration risk and sun exposure on deck. Compare the forecast with Clear sky, Cloud Cover and UV Index to judge visibility, shade needs and how long crew can work safely outside.
In PredictWind, sunny periods are best assessed alongside wind, wave, rain and temperature layers rather than treated as a complete “good weather” signal. Check model agreement, local effects and the timing of sea-breeze changes, especially when using Weather Routing or Departure Planning for coastal passages.
