Electric Windlass

An electric windlass is a powered deck winch used to deploy and recover a boat’s anchor rode, typically driving a chainwheel or capstan with a 12 V or 24 V motor. Installed on the foredeck or in the anchor locker, it handles chain, rope, or a combination rode to reduce manual effort when anchoring.

As a type of Anchor Windlass, it improves safety and control when setting or weighing anchor, especially on heavier cruising yachts and powerboats.
