City Dock, also known as the Cruiseship Dock, is a t-shaped dock located at the north end of downtown. The dock face is 405 feet with a breasting pier head of 565 feet and an additional stern mooring dolphin 225 feet off the northeast end of the dock, allowing accommodation of ships +/-950 feet. The port is specifically designed for growth, and it is the only port in Alaska with 9,000 acres (14 square miles) designated for commercial and industrial development. The port has numerous facilities, including a 15-acre gravel surface barge dock, and the deepest draft dock in the Upper Cook Inlet. These facilities are designed to efficiently import and export different types of cargoes, including natural resources.
