Nykarleby is a nice, authentic little town worth walking to. You can walk along the old embankment, as an alternative to the climb. The septic tank can be emptied with a suction drain device in the port. Bicycles can be rented from the Hos-tell Lilja counter if your own bicycle does not fit on the boat.
