Situated at Longitude 32º 02' E and Latitude 28º 48' S, Richards Bay, South Africa's most northernmost and easterly port, is 87 nautical miles (160 km) northeast of Durban and 252 n.miles (465 km) southwest of Maputo.
The port with its immediate region has become a popular call for international cruising yachts because of the close proximity to game parks and the St Lucia World Heritage Site. Cruising yachts make use of the small craft berth where there is a modern marina (Zululand Yacht Club) near the small craft basin.
 

The port of Richards Bay is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year. The entrance channel is dredged to a permissible draught of 17.5 metres with a -19,5m depth in the entrance channel. Berthing varies between 8m (small craft berth) and 19m (coal berths).
 

The Port of Richards Bay is a Port of Entry/Departure, and the following procedures must be completed by all craft making their first landfall at this port from international waters

NOTICE TO ALL VESSELS ARRIVING FROM INTERNATIONAL WATERS
Any vessel coming from International waters needs to register online with www.osasa.org.za for pre-arrival authorisation at least 96 hrs before arrival. It is preferable to do this before leaving the last port of departure for Richards Bay, South Africa. Once the registration has been completed, all the documents will be channelled to the correct departments and contact persons ahead of your arrival.

On arrival call Port Control on CHANNEL 12 to request permission to enter harbour
Upon entering the harbour, proceed to the Small Craft Harbour and tie up on the concrete wall in front of the Dros restaurant to await Port Health clearance.

Make sure you are flying the Yellow Q flag. Port health will come to your boat once results are received by them, and so will Immigration. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BOAT before being cleared by Port Health. Once cleared, Immigration will normally come to the boat to issue your visa. You have 24hrs from Immigration clearance to visit Customs.

East London is a city on the Indian Ocean, in South Africa’s Eastern Cape.
The Port of East London is South Africa's only remaining river port and is situated at the mouth of the Buffalo River in the East Cape Province. The original name was Port Rex.
Port Limitations:
The entrance to the Port of East London is dredged for ships with a depth ranging from 11m to 14m, 170m width at the narrowest part and with a draught alongside the berths ranging from 8.5m to 10.4 metres. The port can accommodate vessels of up to 245m. Draught at the various berths range between 8.5m and 10.4m (grain and oil berths).
 
The outer anchorage is approximately 1 n.mile east of the southern breakwater but the position is exposed. Pilotage into port is compulsory from a boarding point 2 n.miles northeast of the north breakwater, serviced by pilot boat. Tug assistance is compulsory within the port.

The Port of East London is South Africa's only remaining river port and is situated at the mouth of the Buffalo River in the East Cape Province.

St Francis Bay is a holiday town in Sarah Baartman District Municipality in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, roughly one hour’s drive from Gqeberha.
St Francis is famous for far more than just surfing, it boasts a beautiful canal system surrounded by picturesque homes in a uniform building style – black roofs and white walls. Towards Santareme and Port St Francis, the uniformity is repeated, this time with Mediterranean and Tuscan homes filling in the dune fields and fynbos.  Cape St Francis is known as keeping it clean and green, where you will find the century old Seal Point Lighthouse amongst the fynbos and wild waves. 
The canal system offers residents and holiday makers an exotic marina lifestyle. If fishing off your own jetty, swimming or exploring the canals with a canoe or SUP is not enough, the canals are linked to the Kromme River, navigable for 10km, where more fishing, boating, paddling, kite and windsurfing, waterskiing can be enjoyed and jetskis have access to the ocean through the Kromme River Mouth.

St Francis Bay - Marina Glade

The marina, with its 5 kms of meandering waterways, quaint bridges and Cape Caribbean style homes, is both peaceful and safe to live in. It is protected by well-trained security guards, backed up by modern security systems.

With a host of marine life, abundant birdlife, Bushbuck, Blue Duiker and numerous small animals roaming freely, it is a place for children to bloom and grow in a safe and nurturing environment.

The marina covers 85 hectares. Construction started in 1990 and today the estate comprises 384 residential stands and 475 group development units. The area covered by water is 228,500 m² with a volume of 406,100 m³. Boats may be launched at any of the 36 slipways dotted around the estate.

With the marina on average about 3 m above sea level, fresh seawater is pumped in via 11 seawater inlets and eventually overflows back into the sea. The water quality is carefully monitored to endorse Marina Martinique’s reputation as a premier competitive swimming venue. It is in the process of registering for Blue Flag status.

Procedure for ALL yachts arriving from international waters, both foreign and local, who need to clear into South Africa
All incoming international yachts and/or South African yachts returning from a foreign port must register with OSASA at www.osasa.org.za to obtain pre-arrival authorisation at least 96 hours before arrival in Gqeberha.

The Pratique together with a Maritime Health Declaration form for each crew member (available on the OSASA website) together with Yellow Fever vaccination status (if applicable) will be submitted by OSASA to the relevant authorities before arrival.

The crew and Skipper will NOT be permitted to leave the yacht until the Port Health and SA Police have cleared the yacht.
Authorities will be advised of the arrival of all yachts.
These procedures will remain in force until advised otherwise.
Once cleared by Port Health, proceed to Customs and Immigration (with passports which must show 6 months validity). Please confirm you are eligible for a visa here.

The entrance channel to Port Elizabeth is maintained at a depth of -14.5m Chart Datum and has a generous width of 310m. Limitations on vessels using the port are 11m draught for passenger and dry cargo vessels, 11.2m for container ships, 12.1m for ore carriers and 9.6m for tankers, all according to berthing. Deeper vessels may be accommodated with the permission of the harbour master. Tug assistance and pilotage are compulsory. Ships may anchor outside the port in Algoa Bay provided the approaches to the entrance channel are kept clear.

Our walk on moorings are designed in Europe and manufactured here. The moorings are designed to give your boat the home she deserves. We cater for all sizes of boats, and the system allows us to move the moorings to accommodate odd size vessels. The moorings float and move up and down with the levels of the dam. We have over 100 moorings installed at present and will be able to double that in the coming years. The decking is made from Balau, a very hard wood that is used all over the world because of its durability.

Knysna Yacht Club is situated in the centre of the beautiful Garden Route - midway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. The club is internationally renowned for its hospitality and facilities. Visiting yachts are always welcome.

The name Knysna is a Khoi word that has been translated to mean "place of wood", "fern leaves" and "straight down" an obvious reference to the famous Knysna Heads.

The Heads must be one of the most eye-catching geological features along the southern African coastline. They flank a deep channel through which the sea pours, flooding the wide lagoon at the mouth of the Knysna River. The first bay reached inside the Heads was named Featherbed by the old sailing masters as a reference to its calmness compared to the Southern Indian Ocean just outside.

Sailors passing through the Heads have a safe navigable lagoon in which to moor their yachts while visiting Knysna and the surrounding region. The lagoon is a playground for holiday makers where one can enjoy water sports, sailing, sunset cruises and lagoon fishing.

Founded in 1910, Knysna Yacht Club has all the facilities a visiting yacht requires. This is probably the only harbour on the South African coast that is in easy walking distance of Supermarkets and boat chandlers. The club provide haul-out facilities for vessels of up to 12 tonnes with skilled servicing by SAS/SAMSA qualified personnel.

We provide shower and ablution facilities for visitors. The club has an excellent restaurant and two well stocked bars.

The Port of Mossel Bay, situated halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, approximately 400km East of Cape Town, is the
only South African port that operates two off-shore mooring points within port limits. The main commodities handled are petroleum
products exported through the off-shore moorings and fish products from the fishing industry of the region. It also serves as an offshore supply vessel base for one of its key clients, PetroSA. The port is capable of accommodating passenger and project vessels
that call at the port.
Accessible by road and railway networks, the Port of Mossel Bay is an excellent connection point to the consumer markets and industrial
zones of the Western Cape hinterland. Tourism is also a booming industry, with fully booked accommodations in the holiday months.
The N2 national road connects Mossel Bay with Cape Town and George. The closest airport is George (approximately 50 km away)
which has flights to all major airports within South Africa. Mossel Bay forms part of the Garden Route – a major tourist attraction in
the Western Cape. Further inland is the Karoo which is mainly a farming area.
The port’s main role is to import and export petroleum products. It also serves as a base for the local fishing industry.

The picturesque Peter Gordon small boat harbour is home to the Leisure Isle Boat Club (LIBC) and is located in uniquely beautiful surroundings on Leisure Isle, Knysna in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. LIBC was founded in about 1990 to provide facilities to enable Club Members to moor and store their small boats and trailers in a safe and secure environment and for the use and general enjoyment by visitors and the public. The original harbour was built in 1992 and extended in 2004.

LIBC and its facilities are for recreational use only and no commercial ventures are allowed except under exceptional circumstances and with specific written approval. LIBC can only accommodate small boats, less than 6,1 meters in length, a beam of less than 2,4 meters and a draught not exceeding 0,6 meters. A limited number of boats up to 6,7 meters in length may be accommodated with special permission.

There are approximately 250 privately owned individual walk-on moorings in the harbour and a similar number of trailer parking bays on the hard, all of which are for use by LIBC Members and Temporary Members only.

There is also limited storage capacity for paddle crafts (canoes and kayaks). Subject to availability, moorings are usually available to rent on a short or long-term basis, bearing in mind that there is always a high demand for rental berths during the December holiday period. Visitors are welcome and may launch their boats at the public slipway for a daily launch fee; alternatively, visitors may join as Temporary Members on a weekly or monthly basis.

Yachtport SA is a purpose designed and built Marine lift facility and luxury yacht marina situated in the Port of Saldanha, 60 nautical miles northwest of Cape Town. Additional technical and logistical support is done via our Cape Town office situated in the V&A Waterfront.

With the growth of the local yacht export market and limited facilities available to the yacht industry, Yachtport SA was established in 2010, in South Africa’s largest natural deepwater port, providing a marina and fully equipped boat yard with the only deticated indoor yacht maintenance and repair workshop in Southern Africa.

This world-class facility with its superior boat handling equipment and infrastructure is designed to provide much needed launching, repair and mooring opportunities for the luxury yacht industry in the Western Cape of South Africa.

The marine lift facility has the largest travel lift in the country and capable of handling catamarans and mono hulls of up to 26m length overall, 9.5m beam width and up to 100 ton displacement.

APPROACHES
The depth of the main navigation channel of the jetties is 23m and 23.7m at its start. It has a minimum width of 400m.

DOCKING
Vessels of more than 14m draught are handled in daylight only. Vessels of MPTV/L may be docked port-side, larger vessels are docked bow-to-sea. A telephone is compulsory for tankers and is placed on board after docking.

DEPTH
The quay channels on each side of the ore and oil jetties are dredged to a depth of 23.0m and there is a 580m diameter turning basin to the west of the jetties which is dredged to a depth of 23.2m

LARGEST VESSEL
Vessels with a maximum draught of 20.5m can be accommodated, with the Harbour Master’s permission for draughts up to 21.5m for sailing (tidal) in ideal conditions.

There are Small Craft Harbour at Saldanha and Mykonos Yacht Harbour and Yachtports SA.


PILOTAGE
Pilotage is compulsory for all vessels arriving at the port. Boarding is via pilot launch (equipped with radar and VHF radio) or, in certain adverse conditions by helicopter. I the latter case, authorization from the ship’s master and the pilot via the ship’s agent is required.

Lambert's Bay is a small fishing town in the Western Cape province of South Africa situated 280 kilometres north of Cape Town. It is part of the Cederberg Municipality. The coast town has been proclaimed 'the Diamond of the West Coast' because of its white beaches, wildlife and lobsters
Although primarily a fishing town it has become a significant tourist attraction on the West Coast due to its moderate all-year climate.

PORT OF  GORDON’S BAY PROCEDURE GUIDELINES FOR VISITING CRUISING YACHTS 
OSASA: Gordon’s Bay
​The haul-out facilities at Gordon’s Bay Harbour are administrated by the Harbour Master on behalf of the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment. Facilities include:
•    Slip with cable-operated cradle able to accommodate haul-outs for vessels of a maximum of 50 tons
•    Crane for lifting motors and cargo onto cement jetty
•    Large concrete slipway for hauling out by trailer
Chandlery and resupply
•    Gordon’s Bay Harbour does not currently host a chandlery, but access to boating supplies can be arranged through local artisans. Contact GBYC for more information.
•    There are nearby supermarkets within walking distance for purchasing groceries; provisions can also be delivered to the Harbour by the local Checkers supermarket.
•    There is no on-site fuel supply, although local artisans and fishermen can assist with procuring diesel. There are several filling stations in the area as well.
